Privacy Policy
Preamble
You own your data. We make our money by charging a fair price for a service that stores your data and offers tools to run your manufacturing business. We will not sell your data, nor will we look at your data unless explicitly asked, by you, to assist with a technical question so that you may better use our service.
For the rest of this document, when we write “we” or “us”, it means Creative Conners, Inc. When we write “you”, we mean either a paying customer or trial customer of Creative Conners using the Off the Shelf software service. When we say “the service” we mean Off the Shelf..
The Data We Store
Business Data
To be useful, we store whatever manufacturing information you enter into Off the Shelf. This includes, but isn’t limited to:
- Parts lists
- Vendor details
- Customer details
- Purchase and Sales Orders
- Product details
All of this information are entered by you to take advantage of useful features in the software. None of the data you enter is ever sold. Creative Conners will not analyze the data for its content. We may analyze anonymous data to improve the speed and responsiveness of the service, but will not read your data to expose your proprietary trade secrets. We recognize the value of this information to you as it constitutes the means by which you make your products. The data is critically important and its security is paramount. We store our data in Off the Shelf, too, and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Identity
For each user of the site we collect an email address and name. We use the email address you enter to communicate with you only regarding Off the Shelf. Most commonly, to assist with account access (like a password reset). The name is useful so we have a way to address you in written communication. It needn’t be your real name, but it should be something you don’t mind being called.
We also store an encrypted, unrecognizable rendition of your password. Following best practices, we are unable to retrieve your password should you lose it. However, we can assist in resetting your password to a new one.
Billing
All billing transactions are handled by a third-party — Stripe. Your credit card information is not processed nor stored on our servers. We store a record of the payment each month that your subscription renews to determine your account status.
Cookies
We do use cookies to store a few personal preferences and login status while using Off the Shelf. These cookies, which are just small bits of information stored in your browser, are solely used for the function of the software, not for tracking or marketing purposes.
Support Correspondence
When you email us for help, we store a copy of that email in our support system so we can review the information at any time. Our entire support team has access to that correspondence. This is a practical measure, to empower anyone an our team to help anyone on your team. If a conversation starts with one team member, and continues with another, we have the history available to read through.
The Data We View
Business Data
Our fundamental principle is to keep your data private. It is sacred to you just as our manufacturing data is sacred to us. We also store our business data in Off the Shelf (quite literally the same servers) and do not wish to share our proprietary information, we assume you feel the same. The only time we will view your business data is if specifically, explicitly requested by you to help solve a technical issue, squash a software bug, or offer assistance using the software. Most times, this is unnecessary and we can help through email correspondence and screenshots. But, when that proves too clumsy, you can invite us to look at your account data for assistance.
Billing and Identity
Our sales and support team will review your subscription data to help solve billing issues. We also review this data to alert you when your subscription has lapsed, or when your trial is nearing its end. This view is limited to seeing your email address and last successful payment.
Legal Requests
When served with the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order from US law enforcement to share data, we must comply. Without compulsion, we will not share your data with local or federal US law enforcement. We have never received a National Security Letter or Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) order.
Data Security
To be useful, data must be transmitted from your browser to our servers. To protect the data during that journey we transmit the data encrypted via SSL/TLS.
Data is not encrypted in our database, with the exception of your login credentials which are encrypted before they are stored.
We host our software and storage on servers from reputable companies with stringent security protocols to limit physical access to the data.
Terms of Service
Thank you for using Off the Shelf! We make Off the Shelf so you can manufacture your products. Not only do we build Off the Shelf, but we use it everyday too, so we take its success, support, and improvement seriously.
Usage
Off the Shelf is offered “as-is” and “as available”. We do not offer a service-level agreement. Use our service at your sole risk. However, we take the availability and functioning of the service seriously and strive to provide you with the best service and support.
You are responsible for securing your account with proper handling of your password and those of your team.
The service is offered as a monthly subscription. After an initial 30-day free trial, you are required to pay our subscription fee to continue using the service. Without payment, your subscription will be cancelled.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time either explicitly through the service, or by letting your payments lapse. Upon cancellation, you will have access to your account and all your data until the end of your current subscription billing cycle. No pro-rated refunds will be offered. Beyond your current billing cycle, you will have access to your account to re-subscribe, but will no longer be able to view your data.
90 days after cancellation, your data may be deleted from our servers. We will contact you before your data is deleted to give you ample notice if you wish to re-subscribe.
We understand that small companies can hit a rough patch. If you need to pause your subscription to conserve expenses, please contact us via email so we can help you both control costs and keep access to your data.
Pricing and Service Changes
Off the Shelf was first written in 2005. Back then it was a single-client desktop application. Over the years it has evolved into the multi-company, multi-user web application that you see today. Change is progress and our service will continue to progress and evolve. We intend to continually improve the software so it grows better with time. As such, features will change over time. New features will be added, and old features may retire. But the changes are a way to achieve our fundamental goal: build great software to make running a small manufacturing business easier and more profitable.
Over time, we may adjust the subscription pricing of Off the Shelf. Before we raise our prices, we promise to notify you with as much notice as possible (at least 30 days). If our pricing is reduced, you will receive the new lower price so there is no penalty for being a loyal, long-standing customer.
Thanks for your loyalty and trust. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
